Harpers Ferry woman charged in attempted Herndon bank holdup

A woman has been charged in a recent attempted hold up of a Herndon bank. She claimed there were bombs nearby that would go off if she was not given money. Channel 9 News has details:

Ana Ruth Melendez Rodriguez of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, was arrested July 27 after a police investigation into a robbery at Cambio de Cheque at 1100 Elden St, Suite F, in Herdon that took place Thursday.  The female suspect entered the business, demanded cash and then handed over a note that said a bomb was located in the lobby, and another bomb was in the parking lot.

From Channel 9:

At approximately 11:00, the woman confronted a teller at the Cambio de Cheque at 1100 Elden Street, Suite F, in Herndon, and demanded money. She also produced a note that said that a bomb was located in the lobby of the business and another bomb was  in the parking lot. The female then left the scene.

Police responded and summoned the Fairfax County Police Bomb Squad. Surrounding businesses were evacuated and roads were temporarily closed while a bomb search was conducted.

Unsuccessful bank robbery attempt in Great Falls; police release photo of suspect

From Fairfax County police:

Police were called to the Bank of America, located at 748 Walker Road, around 10:53 a.m. on Tuesday, March 20, for an attempted bank robbery. An investigation determined a man approached a teller and demanded money. The suspect then fled the bank without any money. No one inside the bank required medical attention.

The suspect was described as white, 25 to 30 years old. He was about 6 feet tall, 200 pounds and was wearing a white T-shirt and an orange construction vest.

Attempted robbery on Winterthur Lane in Reston

From police logs:

Two men attempted to rob a 29-year-old man at knifepoint in the 11900 block of Winterthur Lane around 2:50 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22. The suspects were described as black, between 25 and 32 years old and about 5 feet 11 inches tall. The victim was not injured.

Winterthur Lane contains apartments and is north of Hunters Woods Plaza.
