Local September 11 tenth anniversary ceremonies planned

Two 9/11 tenth anniversary ceremonies are planned locally. Courtesy of the Fairfax News:

Herndon

The Town of Herndon will hold a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the Herndon Municipal Center Steps, 777 Lynn Street in Herndon.

Dranesville District Supervisor John Foust will act as the Master of Ceremonies. Herndon Mayor, Steve DeBenneditis, will deliver the keynote address. The Herndon High School NJROTC will act as the Color Guard.

The ceremony, sponsored by the Dulles Chapter of the AARP, will honor the Herndon Fire Station, Herndon Police Department, Herndon Police Support Team, Herndon Masonic Lodge #264, VFW Post 8241 (McLean), American Legion Post #184 (Herndon) and veterans and first responders.  There will be a silent walk commemorating all who lost their lives.

 Chantilly

The Sully Station II Neighborhood Watch and the National Society of the Sons of the

American Revolution (SAR) — Virginia Society Fairfax Resolves Chapter – are sponsoring a 9/11 Memorial Ceremony at 5:30 p.m. at Westfield High School Stadium

4700 Stonecroft Blvd. in Chantilly. The ceremony will be hosted by Gail Pennybacker of ABC7/WJLA-TV.
