BURGLARY, 3800 block of Highland Oaks Drive, 5/16/12, 4 p.m. Officers were called to the home because a rear window was found broken. Jewelry and electronic equipment was taken from the home.

BURGLARY, 12300 block of Folkstone Drive, 5/11/12, 2:25 p.m. The victim reported she was watching via a “puppycam” an unknown man walking through her house. Officers responded and charged Steven Anderson, 48, of Charlottesville, VA., with burglary.

“With careful care from Hoof and Paw Vets in Purcelville and many loving volunteers, they are expected to return to their very important jobs, after healing and rehab,” wrote Lucinda’s owner, Caroline Eglin, on a web page she created to raise money for the horses’ veterinary bills.

There is no suspect under arrest yet, but a person of interest:

Park employees saw a man stumbling around the grounds about 11 a.m. April 26. He was white and about 5 feet 8 and 160 pounds. It’s unclear if he had anything to do with injuring the horses, but he was a stranger to employees at the park.

On May 3, police arrested Trenton M. Carter, 18, of 14406 Round Lick Lane in the Centreville area and charged him with felony destruction of property. The investigation continues and additional arrests are possible. The Fairfax County Police Department is grateful for the continual support from the public.

Could the burglar who has caused a number of recent Oak Hill (and other) burglaries have been arrested? From police:

                Reston Police District – Police have charged a 20-year-old Sterling man with two counts of burglary and he remains a suspect in a series of at least 20 garage break-ins in Fairfax County.  Jamil Alam, of 302 Signal Court in Sterling, was arrested at 2:40 a.m. Sunday, May 6, following two burglaries in the Monroe Manor community of the Reston Police District.

            The string of burglaries began in mid-March when reports started coming into police that someone was breaking into garages, stealing items from unlocked cars, and entering the homes through unlocked doors.  Apple electronic devices, alcohol, purses, and wallets were reported missing, although the wallets and purses were usually found near the crime scenes, minus any money.

            Alam is currently charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of grand larceny, two counts of attempted burglary, and possession of burglarious tools.  The investigation is continuing and investigators say they anticipate more charges and possibly more arrests.

Police were called to a business in the 4100 block of Lafayette Center Drive in Chantilly on Sunday, May 6 shortly before 3 p.m. for the report of an accident involving a forklift operator.

During the initial investigation, officers and detectives determined that Gerardo Santiago Paulette Ruiz, 47, of Herndon was operating a forklift in the warehouse area of the business. He apparently attempted to pass through a doorway when the forklift struck an overhead beam. The beam became dislodged and fell on Ruiz. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

BURGLARY, 2300 block of Concert Court, 4/28/12, 7:30 a.m.. The homeowner reported someone entered and stole a purse and wallet off the counter. Force entry was possibly made through the garage door.

BURGLARY, 3300 block of Bywater Court, 4/29/12, 5 p.m. The homeowner reported her purse and laptop computer were stolen from the counter in the home. Entry was possibly made through the patio door.

ROBBERY, 3900 block of Fair Ridge Drive, 4/27/12, 8:20 p.m. The victim reported two men demanded master keys to the building. When she said no, one of them struck her. They fled with the keys and her cell phone. She was treated for minor injuries.
