Higher Fairfax Connector fares start July 1st

If you take the Fairfax Connector bus, fares will be increasingly modestly on July 1st.

  • The regular base fare will increase to $1.60 if paying by SmarTrip® card and $1.80 if paying by cash.
  • Senior and disabled fare will increase five cents to 80 cents if paying by SmarTrip® card and 90 cents if paying by cash.
  • The fare for express Route 395 will increase from $5.00 to $5.35 if paying by SmarTrip® card or cash.
  • The fare for express routes 595 and 597 will increase from $7.00 to $7.50 if paying by SmarTrip® card or cash.

Purchasing a SmarTrip® card will minimize the impact of the fare increase. A SmarTrip® card provides for up to two hours of free bus-to-bus transfers, and $0.50 discounts for bus-to-rail transfers. SmarTrip® cards can be purchased at Connector Stores, Metrorail Stations, and most CVS and Giant Food locations.
